newbie here.. Anyway to stop Revit MEP from Regenerating after picking each item you're copying/monitoring? With 100's of items that I'm copy/monitoring, I just feel I'd be done with this entire project in Acad w/designmaster... and I haven't even started any designing yet.

Yes, BIM falls under the umbrella of CAD but most of the industry "hears" CAD as drawing 2D. If we can change that then great! I use CAD when talking to non AEC folks, they understand it as Computer Aided Design in the most true sense... AEC (many, not all) do not...oddly enough

Great summary, I particularly like your analysis of the "pencils down" timing. I think designers all too often start to rely on the model solving all the problems, which means we are detailing and designing right through to printing, rather than progressing with a more structured approach of solving our design in principle earlier on, utilizing the model, but still doing the design thinking thoroughly with enough time to detail effectivly

Models are linked (from *the architect*) and if said cow is in the model then by golly it's linked in.

I see... well that proves it. Revit can do everything. You made a cow man! I'm about to have a cow! I work with Revit MEP everyday and have been since my company bought the POS back in 2010. And because my beginnings in Revit were based in architecture (2008), I thought it was a great idea. No! A cow has no place in the MEP world, and if I had to link that hideous entourage in my model I would plug a pipe right up it's butt!
